“I like to jig. I’m not as good a pushing, or spider rigging, but I try to be the best I can be. I’ve noticed as I’ve gotten older that my peripheral vision isn’t as good as it use to be. I saw something one time that gave me an idea for my poles.
“I put two beads together with a little one in between to help me see the end of my pole and therefore bites. They also make a clicking sound.
“I use a 12-pound main line and just run the beads through it between the tip and the next eye. I like red beads that are cut instead of smooth because it reflects a little better making it easier to see. Believe it or not, the least little tap will rattle those beads a little just enough that you can hear the hit. If you happen to be looking away when you get a hit it just brings your eyes straight to the rod that has the hit. It may not be the best but it helps me in the tournaments and helps my clients on a trip.”
