There are many ways to check and set your line length. One way for trolling jigs or crankbaits is to let out the amount of line you want plus four or five feet. Hook the line in your line-keeper tab on the spinning reel spool. Then turn the reel handle two turns. You can quickly return to the exact line length every time. The disadvantage is you have limited line to pull out with the drag if you hang up while trolling. -TH
