Big bait, big fish. In Mississippi big means a 1/4-ounce, 3-inch jig with a 3-inch minnow. Everything is relative to where you are fishing, but experiences on the lakes where most of the big crappie come from, show the fish want a big bait. I’m guessing it’s because they can get the biggest bang for the buck, in other words, spend the least amount of energy for the most food when they eat a bigger bait.
