Crappie Basics: Kentucky Afield Reveals an October Crappie Sweet Spot
by Richard Simms, CrappieNOW Editor
How many times do you watch online fishing videos where the anglers are catching fish like crazy. They share their lures, their techniques and maybe even the exact time of year.
But they leave out what is often the most important ingredient – where are they?
The water they are fishing can be easily described as Anywhere, USA. And sure, their tips might help you catch fish on your home water – but we all know that with fishing the most important three factors are “Location, location and location.”
The folks at Kentucky Afield, produced by the Kentucky Department of Fish & Wildlife Resources, don’t do that.
They shared this video of an October crappie sweet spot at Taylorsville Lake, of show host Chad Miles enjoying some walk-in bank fishing for white bass and crappie.
The same thing Chad is doing may work somewhere out your own back door, or you can always go sample this spot and as Chad says, “there’s nobody here it’s cause it’s October and everybody’s in a deer stand.”
