Eric Cagle is a fan of fishing technology and says his H&H rods reflect that.

Alabama guide, Eric Cagle, has fished national tournaments for four years, was half of the 2018 Crappie Masters Rookie Team of the Year, 2020 Grenada Lake tournament winner, was second in an October A.C.T. Ross Barnett tournament and fishing by himself, he won the 2020 Crappie Masters National Championship held in September 202 on the Ouachita River.
Cagle says H&H Fishing Rods have helped him achieve his success.
“H&H Rods and Reels was started by Eric Howard in 2018 because he always felt that every product should have a variety of choices,” said Cagle. “He has a huge passion for fishing and promoting the sport.
Cagle says when they build and H&H rod, they’re not “guessing” at what people want.
“The manufacturing process starts with the angler,” said Cagle. “H&H gets direct feedback from everyday anglers and tournament fishermen on what they are looking for in a rod – weight, length, durability, flexibility and price range. The next step is working with the demo rods on the water and getting the specifications to H&H standards.”
The 37-year-old Cagle stays on the cutting edge of technology. Besides H&H Rods, he has embraced the Garmin Livescope with a passion.
“When PanOptics (LiveScope) first came out, I got to take my dad to the lake,” said Cagle. “He is an old-school fisherman and never had a graph. He would line up this pine tree with that oak tree. I got to take him out and let him see a crappie come up and take his bait. He giggled like a little schoolgirl and said, ‘Man, I didn’t think I would ever see something like that.’ He was shocked by what he seen and that was awesome.”
He says his association with H&H Rods has been a blessing for his guiding and tournament career.
“The most fun and satisfying part of being with H&H would have to be the people,” said Cagle. “Our prostaff is second to none. Not only are our folks great fishermen, but even better people. H&H is really like a family. We want to beat each other come tournament day but we all respect each other.”
