The Opening Cast

It is no secret that the world is gravitating to the Internet. The printed word on real paper is becoming a thing of the past. In spite of that, we regularly get e-mails from crappie anglers who want to know how they can receive a hardcopy of CrappieNOW Magazine in their mailbox each month.
We have to tell them, “We’re sorry, but you can’t.”
When Publisher Dan Dannenmuellar, Senior Writer Tim Huffman and TTI Blakemore’s Ron Stallings put their heads together nearly 15 years ago, they decided that theirs would be an online magazine only. The business model was that the online publication would be totally advertiser-supported, which means it would be absolutely free for their readers (you).
It seems the three men were way ahead of their time.
In December the Major League Fishing (MLF) organization – formerly FLW – announced that after 40 years, the December 2024 issue of MLF Bass Fishing magazine would be its final printed edition.
Their news release said, “As the digital era continues to transform the way people consume information, MLF is pivoting to focus on delivering its world-class content through video, social media and other digital platforms.”
Welcome to our club guys.
To those who still dream of newsprint or turning the page of your favorite magazine, our condolences.
