The animal rights movement in America, led by the Humane Society of the United States (HSUS), has evolved into a wealthy and successful attack group determined to end the consumption of meat, eliminate hunting, outlaw rodeos and circuses, and even ban animal ownership altogether.
Protect The Harvest was created to fight back and defend American families, farmers, sportsmen and animal owners from the growing threat posed by the radical animal rights movement. The three objectives of Protect the Harvest is to inform, protect and respond.
Dave Hageman, Executive Vice President of Protect The Harvest says, “We are an organization to defend our right to hunt, fish and farm. How big is the threat to fishing? The Humane Society is ahead of the curve compared to other groups. A few years ago they had a campaign about how fish feel pain. In late September this year PETA basically said that all vegetarian-type people who still eat fish are terrible people because fish are raised on farms where they are harvested and feel the pain of the harvest similar to fishermen who hook the fish and pull them out of the water. Fishing is not first on their list but the stage is being set to make an attack on fishing.”
“Anglers can do something,” explains Hageman. “This is because we are the largest of the fish, hunt and farm groups. We are over thirty-million strong. Fishermen need to become educated about what is important to help keep their rights including the political issues that come up on the ballot. Communicate with friends and groups who can help. It’s about protecting our freedom from the groups who want to change our heritage and take away our freedoms.”
Isn’t HSUS a humane society? The cute name implies that but it isn’t, and never will be an animal shelter although 71-percent of Americans believe it is. It isn’t even affiliated with any actual Humane Societies. “”The Humane Society sounds great,” says Hageman, “and portrays being moderate and caring for animals. This makes them very dangerous. They collect 140 to 180 million dollars with ½ of 1 percent going to animal care and the other 99-plus percent going to raising money campaigns and their political machine.”
