Mike Baker has a bass fishing tournament history, likes winter catfishing, but crappie is his main target fish in recent years. He fishes an occasional crappie tournament.
“This is the perfect time of year for shooting docks,” says Baker. “Some people don’t’ like shooting because it can be hard on your back and knees. But fall crappie can be patterned a lot easier when you target docks. The fish quality is good this time of year, too. A swim platform at a dock is one of my favorite places to check.”
“I like a short 5.5-foot rod and a small profile reel. I like yellow line so I can see it jump. My favorite baits are the Bobby Garland Blue Ice Baby Shad and Southern Pro white-chartreuse Hot Grub in 1/32 or 1/16-ounce.”
