In August the fish are often on flats off the creek channels. At a recent tournament on Truman Lake, the water was muddy with current. We worked hard to get away from the current. We fished along fast to hit as many trees as possible but couldn’t get a bite. We slowed down and started getting bites immediately. We realized the fish wanted the jig deadsticked. They would get tired of looking at it and hit. Going slow and methodical made the difference. We used a black-pink Crappie Town Daddy Shad that has a big profile.
